Stuff Poetry Competition
This section was for a poem up to 200 lines in length.
The judge for the poetry competition for 2005 was Stephen Edgar, recipient
of the inaugural Australian Book Review prize.

- 1st PRIZE: "Headless Portrait of a Pregnant Woman" by Esther
Ottaway (Tasmania)
- 2nd PRIZE: "To Set Out on a Journey" by Rebecca Edwards
(Queensland)
- Highly commended: "A Van Diemen's Land Inheritance" by Graeme
Hetherington (Australian poet now living in the Czech Republic)

Category B The Write Stuff
Short Story Competition
This section was for a short story of 5,000 to 10,000
words (i.e no fewer than 5,000 and no more than 10,000 words). The
judge once again is Giles Hugo, journalist, writer and co-editor
of The Write Stuff.
